Eurosensors Hackathon

On 5 and 6 September 2026, Switzerland Innovation Park Zurich hosts the Eurosensors 2026 Hackathon in its Event Hangar.

Fifty researchers and early-career professionals from across Europe spend a weekend on a single problem: "The Unhackable Scooter Immobilizer." The task is to design a smart system that prevents unsafe scooter use by detecting alcohol levels, helmet use and multiple riders, combining gas sensors, biometrics and anti-tampering technology.

It starts before the weekend, with an online briefing and pre-work so teams arrive ready to build. On site in the Event Hangar, participants work hands-on with advanced sensors and AI tools, sharpening teamwork, planning and pitching along the way. Two days later, each team has a working concept and a pitch to defend.

The work does not stop at the Hangar door. Teams demo their solutions live during the conference, in front of an international audience of sensor experts, and the awards are presented at the Eurosensors gala dinner.

The hackathon opens Eurosensors 2026, Europe's leading conference for sensors, actuators, microsystems and nanosystems, held from 6 to 9 September at ETH Zurich. Details on the conference: eurosensors2026.ch

Entry fee: EUR 110 per participant. Places are limited to 50.
